I feel bad when coaches at their dream job loses them. Last season was Randy Shannon, in the past you have seen Mike Shula at Alabama, Houston Nutt at Arkansas, and even farther back Matt Dougherty at UNC. The latest is a coach I like a lot that just could not get it done, Rick Neuheisel. He has had a messy divorce at Colorado and Washington. Il always disagree with what happened at Washington. That bring said, despite a wealth of local talent, Rick just never won much in Westwood. His teams improved just a hair, and with a loss Friday, will be under .500 again. On the pure fluke chance they would win, it’s a shame Rick would not be allowed to coach in the Rose Bowl. I think if I am UCLA I go for the best coach on the market, Mike Leach. With all the loony tunes in LA he could win big. He would be a much bigger splash than anyone else you bring. You need a coach that will stand up to USC and he did it at Tech against OU and Texas. He didn’t win a lot but he had balls enough to try. All you need to do is ask yourself this, how often outside of Texas, have you heard about Texas Tech since he was let go?
