I sadly have not updated this recently, and todays post will be brief, but I will try better to keep it up. In the effort to continue to make this a “Business of Sports” website for 2014 and possibly beyond, I would like to briefly talk about the Formula E season that started yesterday. For those of you not familiar with what I may be talking about this is the first ever race series for a completely electric car. While I do not have numbers specifically, I will slide it under the business angle like this. With a 10 race schedule and a handful of teams each with two cars, how much faster will clean, green electric technology advance and benefit the civilian world ? While season 1 is a spec series, season 2, will allow teams to adjust the car, and at that point we are just waiting on the data to get back to battery manufacturers to see what they can come up with. Right now we are going in the 150 mph hour range for about 30 minutes. 5 years from now it is entirely possible to be doing 200 for an hour. We will just have to wait and see. But in the mean time, this will benefit all mankind, whether you are a daily commuter, or you are a hippy person that takes public transportation by making less emissions in this world.
