With Tim going for his 5th ring, this week, here are some interesting observations and questions on his career, and the championship matchup in general.
Tim was a rookie in 1997, with most teams having a 8–9 man rotation, I would be curious how many guys drafted in the 90’s are still in the league and actually contributing by way of being in the rotation. I can come up with a few, but then when you throw in the rings, that list shrinks even smaller. Kobe, Kevin Garnett, DIrk here in DFW, and Paul Pierce come to mind and Ray Allen.

Other interesting notes, and food items for thought.

Tim has had 5 former teammates that went on to become head coaches.

Tim has had 2 teammates go on to become GM’s in the league.

Tim has more playoff wins by himself than all but 10 teams.  Care to guess who?

Some Miami notes of interest.

What happens to the Miami Coach if they do not win. Yes someone has to lose, but this team was built to win titles, and he will be 1-2 in the Finals, if they do not win. With George Karl, Phil Jackson, and Jeff Van Gundy to name a few available the Heat is on the Head Heat Man.

What happens to Lebron’s legacy if he is 1-3 in titles if they lose? Yes it is a team sport, but people are all over Wilt for not winning enough. Kobe has had a winning record, Bird, Magic , and Jordan all had winning records. Tim Duncan would be 5-0.  While it does not kill him,  it certainly would tarnish his image as this elite basketball player.

Pop does not get enough credit for being a elite coach but you cannot help but think another ring would fix this oversight.
