For those of you wondering what the Burgerboy thinks about this fiasco, and you should, here is my take.

I will be honest, I under appreciate Young and his value to the Rangers, he’s a solid stick, played 3 tough positions, and though he’s not a good fielder, it was 2nd, SS, and 3rd. I’ll also say most fans in town overrate him. He’s nit a HOF’er in my book. To be in the hall of fame I want more than stats, I want the way you carry yourself and solid stats, all in accordance with how you rate against your contemporaries. He has one batting title, several all star games, a all star MVP, and several times led the league in hits. But have you ever said he was the best if you do not live in north Texas? Has a child from Houston, Chicago or Iowa ever said I’m excited to see Young? Nope. Has he won a MVP? Nope? Did you ever think he was the best at his position? Nope. Does anyone want his jersey? Nope again. Is he significantly overpaid? Yep. And last but most important does he pass the Shaun Boyle beer and pee test? NOPE. What’s that test? It’s a simple sure fire way to measure a HOF’er. If your willing to get up to get a beer or take a pee, when a players at bat, on deck or even in the hole, then he’s not a hall of famer. Test it , before steroids, Barry Bonds? ARod? Clean players like Griffey? Schmidt? No way you are getting up if those guys are making a plate appearance. Do those guys have a MVP ? Yes, see Young just does not add up. Now this being said, I do not trade him for just anything. I want something in return, so I wait until the trade deadline, and unload him and the contract, to someone willing to overpay.
