Albert made the wise decision to not take the St L offer. Not that he will leave, but let the club sweat it out. I commend him for playing out his year, and filing for free agency. Personally I’d probably offer him 7 years at $26 a year. Some clubs will offer more, and that’s good for him because it will drive his rate up, but ultimately I see no way he is not at 1b, on Opening Day 2012 in a Cardinals uniform. You cant give h 10 years at a ridiculous rate. That being said, at age 38, he signs for around 3 years at $12 a year, and retires at 41.
