In keeping with the 2014 concept of having my web page be 1. Business of Sports 2. Wild and Crazy Sports Stats, which is a staple for years here is some interesting business notes.

1. Notre Dame recently signed a 10 year contract valued at $90 million with Under Armour effective in June. This is believed to be the largest of its kind with arch rival Michigan getting a 10 year $82 million deal from Adidas a few years back.
2. Have you ever asked yourself what it costs to run a Nascar Sprint Event? Here are some round numbers. I have heard in the past it costs about $15 million for a season. The numbers I have run across make that number realistic. I am hearing $350K -$500K a race, which comes out to be in the ballpark of that figure.
3. From what we hear it is reasonable to think sponsoring a Nascar race at a good track will run you about $1-$1.5 million for one time. Most contracts are tried to be signed for multiple years but in todays economy that tends to be tougher to do.
4. Have you ever asked yourself what does the Olympics cost to broadcast? Where does all that money go? NBC paid about $1.2 billion for the London Olympics. The US Olympic committee gets 12.75 pct. of that revenue and around 20 pct. of the IOC global sponsorship.
